West Ham 3-1 Fulham

West Ham signalled their intent to become only the second club to stay up after being bottom of the Premier League on Christmas Day by ending their 27-game wait for an away win this afternoon.

Carlton Cole was gifted a Boxing Day double as the Hammers came from behind to stun Fulham at Craven Cottage and temporarily haul themselves off the foot of the table.

Cole netted twice after being inadvertently played in by Dickson Etuhu and Aaron Hughes at a chilly Craven Cottage, easing the pressure on manager Avram Grant.

The heat is now well and truly on opposite number Mark Hughes, whose side threw away namesake Aaron's first goal for more than six years, with Frederic Piquionne also on the scoresheet for the Hammers.

Terry is back

LONDON (AP)—After two weeks off due to snow, Chelsea returns to action at Arsenal on Monday with captain John Terry accepting that the trimmed squad is struggling to cope with the demands of defending the Premier League title.

Without a win since Nov. 10, the champion has slipped from first to fourth in the Premier League and is three points behind leader Manchester United, which has a played a game less.

At the same time, Arsenal, which hosts Chelsea on Monday, has risen to second.

Chelsea’s dip in form—winning just one of its last seven league matches— has coincided with the absence of talent like Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien as well as the departure of assistant manager Ray Wilkins.

Everton 2-1 Manchester City

Carlos Tevez provided Manchester City with some Christmas cheer but Everton denied them the present they really wanted.

Instead of sitting top of the table on December 25 for the first time since 1929, they remain in third, once more beaten by the Toffees, who registered their fourth successive win at Eastlands.

First-half efforts from Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines were enough for the visitors, who defended valiantly once they had gained the initiative and secured their first win since October.

Not even the needless dismissal of Victor Anichebe could stop them as Mario Balotelli hit a post after Yaya Toure's deflected effort had pulled one back.
