Lukasz Fabianski, who has also come in for some criticism for his performances, will start the match in Serbia.

Wenger said: "For Fabianski, it is another big chance - but you want a goalkeeper or any player to grab the chance when you get it.

"As a manager you can give a chance to a player who is good enough and I believe in his talent. He gets another opportunity to show how good he is. I want him to show how good he is.

"There is only one way to show confidence in a player and that is to put him on the pitch and give him his chance."

Left-back Kieran Gibbs has stayed in London to continue his recovery from a foot injury, as does midfielder Abou Diaby.

Thomas Vermaelen (Achilles), Nicklas Bendtner (groin), Cesc Fabregas (hamstring), Robin van Persie (ankle) and Theo Walcott (ankle) all remain sidelined.

Partizan's veteran skipper Mladen Krstajic is expected to continue playing with a protective face mask. The defender broke his nose in a match in early September.

Right-back Aleksandar Miljkovic has been ruled ruled after injuring his ankle in training.
In Group H's other match Braga could be without Alberto Rodriguez when they host Shakhtar Donetsk. The Peruvian defender picked up a thigh injury at the weekend.

First-choice goalkeeper Quim remains out until the new year with a ruptured Achilles.
Shakhtar are missing playmaker Fernandinho and defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy, who are both long-term absentees with a broken leg and pulled hamstring respectively.
