11.24: Southampton are determined to fight off the advances of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal to keep highly-rated youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. That sounds more like an attempt to make sure the price is closer to £10 million.
11.33: Another Premier League to Championship loan now, with Manchester City midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim heading out to strugglers Scunthorpe United. He is a Norway Under-21 international.

12.01: West Ham's hopes of signing Robbie Keane on loan from Tottenham have been scuppered. "It was a loan situation," Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said of the reported offer from Upton Park. "West Ham wanted a loan but he's not for loan. We wouldn't be loaning him out. He went out on loan last year so we won't be doing that again. If someone wants him they will have to buy him."
12.21: Manchester City have confirmed that Roque Santa Cruz has returned to Blackburn Rovers on loan for the rest of the season. Will he stay fit?
12.32: Sky Sports are reporting that Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar will sign a pre-contact agreement with a major European club in the next 48 hours. Bayern Munich have been strongly linked. Talks between Chelsea and Everton have collapsed.
13.01: A fanciful story from Talksport now, with reports that Liverpool will steal Victor Obinna from West Ham. The striker, who is on loan at Upton Park from Inter Milan, could be set for a permanent move to Anfield. That will make them contenders again...
13.31: Espanyol's Victor Ruiz is said to be interesting Manchester City and Tottenham, but sporting director Ramon Planes says there have been no enquiries. "I don't know about Manchester City's or Tottenham's interest in Victor Ruiz," he told calciomercato.it.
Planes said there has been interest Pablo Daniel Osvaldo from two Premier League clubs. He added: "I've received two bids for him from Fulham and Blackburn but for us, he's a player not for sale."
14.21: Aston Villa have finally agreed a £5 million fee with French Ligue 1 side Lyon for the transfer of midfielder Jean II Makoun, so it seems like there will be no need for Mark van Bommel.
14.42: The Steven Pienaar story has now moved on a bit. Everton have confirmed that they have accepted one of two bids for the South Africa international to move this January. We still think it's Bayern Munich. He said: “We have had two offers for Steven Pienaar. One has been accepted and the player is in talks.”
