Transfer news 1/21/11 via ESPN

Daily Mirror:

Daily Mail: West Ham could try and sign El-Hadji Diouf on a free transfer from Blackburn and will move again for Robbie Keane ... Everton are to sign Eric Dier on loan from Sporting Lisbon ... Blackburn have cancelled the contract of Pascal Chimbonds ... Liverpool are closing in on Luis Suarez.

The Sun: Nicklas Bendtner has told Arsenal he will not be forced out of the club despite being given limited chances, with the Gunners valuing him at £15 million ... Sunderland have upped their bid for Charles N'Zogbia to £9m but Wigan want £10 million ... Chelsea will have new talks with Benfica to sign David Luiz ... Man City will move for Gregory van der Wiel of Ajax, who has a £17 million release clause ... West Ham will sign Demba Ba on loan with the option to buy ... Spurs have been quoted £35 million for Villarreal's former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi ... Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United do not need to spend as they have the best squad in the league.

09.12: Defensive midfielder Yann M'Vila says his dream is to one day play for Manchester United. The Rennes player is quoted as saying: "Manchester United is the club of my dreams. It's a very prestigious club and I dream to play for them."

09.59: Plenty of stories around claiming that Everton have completed the signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier - but nothing on their official site as yet.

10.09: Birmingham boss Alex McLeish says he is in no hurry to sell Seb Larsson despite strong interest from both Newcastle and Blackburn.

10.23: Youssouf Mulumbu has signed a new contract with West Bromwich Albion which will run until the summer of 2013.

10.31: BBC Radio Stoke is reporting that Sunderland have had a bid of around £3 million accepted by Stoke for striker Ricardo Fuller.

10.52: Blackburn have officially terminated the contract of unsettled defender Pascal Chimbonda. He was told by former manager Sam Allardyce in November he could leave this month and new boss Steve Kean has followed that through.

11.10: Another West Brom story, with the Premier League club loaning Romaine Sawyers and Kayleden Brown to League Two club Port Vale.

11.59: John Carew has completed his loan move to Stoke City, and remember that Ricardo Fuller is about to leave Stoke for Sunderland which completes a transfer triangle started by Darren Bent.

12.34: We're hearing whispers that Stephen Ireland is to leave Aston Villa after just six months and join Newcastle United on loan for the rest of the season. What a terrible move that has been for the former Man City man.

12.42: Liverpool transfer supremo Damien Comolli has confirmed the club are interested in signing Luis Suarez and Ashley Young. "We are looking primarily for an attacking player with pace because the team is short on pace," Comolli told Canal+Sport. "And as far as Suarez is concerned, at the moment there is no dialogue with Ajax. He is one of the players we are interested in. Will he be available in January? This is another story. For Young, if he is on the market then we will be interested. But I don't believe that is the case."

12.47: Chelsea are rumoured to be at the front of the queue to sign Werder Bremen's Marko Marin, who is a 21-year-old play maker.

12.50: Stephane Sessegnon may have returned to training with PSG, but his move to Sunderland is edging closer. The Sunderland Chronicle says he will fly to the club for talks over a £4.5 million transfer this weekend.

12.54: Tottenham have been linked with a move for Manchester United utility defender Wes Brown, but Sir Alex Ferguson says he will be going nowhere. “Wes is such a good defender, but I certainly won’t be letting him go on loan,” said Ferguson.

13.30: Ajax have admitted that Liverpool target Luis Suarez is destined to leave the club sooner rather than later, but it seems they would rather not sell him this month. Is that deal dead in the water?

13.51: It looks like Roman Pavlyuchenko could leave Spurs, as he is concerned about dropping down the pecking order should they make new signings up front. He has also turned down contract offers. He told Sport Express: "The proposed conditions do not suit me yet. The amount became a bit more, but not as much as I want. But this is not the only reason I have taken a pause - I want to see what else will happen before the transfer window closes."

14.02: Ian Holloway has revealed that his hopes of signing George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith from Peterborough United could fail. "We were only offered £3.5million for Charlie Adam. Peterborough want that for two lads who were in a team that got relegated from the Championship," said Holloway, quoted in the Blackpool Gazette. "I don't mean that as an insult at all but I'm saying let's have a look at reality.

Borussia Dortmund say Manchester United want £20million-rated midfielder Shinji Kagawa ... Blackburn will offer Chris Samba a new contract and make him their highest paid player ... Birmingham boss Alex McLeish says it is not certain they will sign anyone this month ... Seb Larsson has handed in a transfer request at Birmingham ... Sunderland have been left stunned by a £12m asking price for Charles N'Zogbia ... West Ham have again ruled out sending Robbie Keane out on loan ... Alan Pardew has pleaded with owner Mike Ashley to release transfer funds at Newcastle ... Fulham will sign Gael Kakuta on loan from Chelsea.
