Sunderland 2-1 Blackpool

Kieran Richardson rose to the challenge following Darren Bent's move to Aston Villa by scoring a brace for Sunderland and steering them to victory at Blackpool.

Richardson's first goals of the season could not have come at a better time for manager Steve Bruce as his attacking options were limited.

However, Bruce had to endure a nervous last few minutes with Charlie Adam pulling a goal back from the penalty spot in the 85th minute.

Richardson's goals put Sunderland in the driving seat in the first half but they were also grateful to goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who made three magnificent saves in that period.

Bruce's side made a flying start and Blackpool were pinned back again in the seventh minute when Jordan Henderson swung in a cross from the right.

West Bromwish 3-2 Blackpool

Two-goal Peter Odemwingie ended West Brom's five game losing streak with a late winner against Blackpool at The Hawthorns.

David Vaughan had put Blackpool in front but Albion replied through Odemwingie and James Morrison only for Gary Taylor-Fletcher to level for the Seasiders. But then Odemwingie struck with three minutes remaining to move Albion away from the relegation zone.

Blackpool, fresh from their mid-week triumph over Liverpool, played with their customary freedom with the in-demand Charlie Adam in fine form in midfield. But they were left to rue two missed chances by the normally deadly DJ Campbell.

The Baggies were unsurprisingly devoid of confidence in the first half after their recent poor run. But they were dragged up off the floor by the driving force in midfield of Youssouf Mulumbu.

Blackpool 2-1 Liverpool

The manager and the year may have changed but Liverpool's problems away from home continued as Kenny Dalglish's first Premier League match since returning as boss ended in a 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.

Liverpool's troubles on the road contributed to the departure of Roy Hodgson last weekend but the Seasiders showed October's win by the same score at Anfield was no fluke.

Fernando Torres had given Dalglish the ideal start with a third-minute strike but goals from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and DJ Campbell extended Liverpool's miserable away league record to just two victories in almost 13 months.

It was not the start the 59-year-old Scot was expecting on his return to the top flight after more than 12 years away.

Wednesday match

Liverpool and Blackpool get the attention of the entire EPL with the makeup match being rescheduled for today.  Tied at 25 points with both in the middle of the table, this could be a very beneficial match for either team if they win.

New Liverpool manager Dalglish must win this match if he is to put forth a resume that could put him in the running for the job at the end of the season.  He will be without skipper Steven Gerrard, who must face the 3 match ban for his straight red card versus Man U in the FA cup.

Will Charlie Adam stay?

Ian Holloway is convinced captain Charlie Adam will remain fully committed to the Blackpool cause despite being a transfer target for other clubs.

Charlie Adam has been Blackpool's talisman over the past two seasons
Blackpool rejected offers from both Aston Villa and Birmingham for Adam, and Holloway insists the 25-year-old Scotland midfielder can only leave if one of the Premier League's biggest clubs make a substantial bid.

Villa and Birmingham are reported to have offered around £2.5 million for Adam, who has 18 months remaining on his Bloomfield Road contract.

Holloway, who discussed the situation with Adam on Monday morning, said: "Charlie is in a great place where he is shining and looking good. He is playing the type of football that suits him and the crowd love him.

Birmingham 2-1 Blackpool

Scott Dann's last-gasp strike at Blackpool earned Birmingham their first away win of the season with their 2-1 success also moving them out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Alexander Hleb pounced on a mistake by Stephen Crainey to put Blues ahead in the first half before DJ Campbell's 68th-minute equaliser.

Alex McLeish's side then sealed victory thanks to Dann's close-range effort with a minute of normal time remaining.

It was a dramatic conclusion to a pulsating game which saw the woodwork rattled once by the hosts and twice by the visitors.

Blackpool, playing at home for the first time since November 20, were slow to get out of the blocks and fortunate not to be a goal down within the opening two minutes.

Manchester City 1-0 Blackpool

Three stunning misses from Carlos Tevez almost proved costly as Manchester City narrowly edged out Blackpool 1-0 to stay level with neighbours United at the top of the Premier League.

Tevez missed a first-half penalty and then two sitters in the space of five minutes after the break, including an open goal as he fell after rounding the goalkeeper.

But all that came after Adam Johnson's 33rd-minute strike and City endured a nervous finish to take all three points.

Tevez returned to lead the City attack as a knee injury ruled out Mario Balotelli only four days after his hat-trick against Aston Villa, one of four changes manager Roberto Mancini made to the side that won 4-0.

Blackpool 2-0 Sunderland

DJ Campbell returned to haunt Steve Bruce as Blackpool claimed a 2-0 win to become just the second team to win a Barclays Premier League game at the Stadium of Light in 2010.

Bruce had given Campbell his first chance in the Premier League during his time as Birmingham boss, but saw his former charge produce a 52nd-minute volley and a late second goal which handed the Seasiders their fifth league win on the road this season.

However, the Black Cats had only themselves to blame as they squandered a series of chances in front of a bumper holiday crowd of 42,892 on the way to a fifth defeat of the campaign and their first on home soil.

Blackpool and Everton home games postponed

Blackpool's game against Liverpool on Boxing Day has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. And Everton's home match against Birmingham City has also been called off.

Blackpool do not have undersoil heating at Bloomfield Road and despite covering the pitch the surface is not playable. The inspection was due to take place at midday but was brought forward due to overnight temperatures. The game has already been rearranged for Wednesday, January 12 at 8pm.

The game at Goodison Park was postponed due to a frozen water supply. A statement on Everton's website read: "Due to the adverse weather conditions in Liverpool overnight the stadium is not in a fit condition to stage a Premier League football match, one of which would have attracted an almost capacity attendance.

"There are several miles of frozen pipes, many of which burst during the course of Christmas Day night.

"Our stadium and safety teams worked 'round the clock but due to the rapidly deteriorating conditions - and in the interests of safety and hygiene we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the game.

"A new date for the fixture will be announced as soon as possible."

The early Premier League kick-off between Fulham and West Ham United definitely goes ahead.

Wolves' game against Wigan ill also go ahead despite similar water problems. A statement on the club's website read: "Staff have been working around the clock on making sure the stands and surrounding areas are cleared of snow and gritted to try and ensure fans are able to enjoy the traditions of enjoying a football match on Boxing Day.

Blackpool 1-0 Stoke City

The Blackpool bandwagon rolls on with DJ Campbell scoring a second-half winner against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

It means Ian Holloway's side have now collected six wins and 22 points from 16 games - a remarkable tally given they were widely tipped for relegation.

Prior to kick-off a montage of the late Sir Stanley Matthews, who served both clubs and England with distinction, was well received by home and away supporters.

Matthews would have been proud of the way Blackpool not only kept the ball but showed resilience when needed.

Stoke huffed and puffed but were left deflated as their five-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Bolton 2-2 Blackpool

Bolton's famous battling qualities were on full show in the home draw against Blackpool as they dug deep to come from 2-0 down late on to salvage a point.

The hero was Mark Davies, who would not have been in the side had it not been for Stuart Holden's thigh injury, who fired home in the 89th minute to round off a glorious team move and snatch what seemed an unlikely result with 15 minutes remaining.

Substitute Martin Petrov had pulled one back for Wanderers in the 76th minute.

Blackpool 2 - 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Luke Varney and Marlon Harewood piled on the pressure for Wolves by firing Blackpool to victory in front of Prince William on Saturday afternoon.

Varney set up a thrilling Premier League contest with a stunning volley after just three minutes at Bloomfield Road and Harewood added a second just before the interval.

Kevin Doyle set up a tense finish after Nenad Milijas hit the post for Wolves in a fine second-half response but the hosts held on.

Blackpool Goalkeeper Matt Gilks out up to two months

Somehow improbably, Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks broke his knee cap taking a goal kick in the recent tie versus West Ham United.

Gilks toughed it out and played 20 minutes on the broken knee cap till the half ran out.  Ghanian international Richard Kingson will be between the pipes for the match saturday versus Wolverhampton.

West Ham United 0 - 0 Blackpool

Bottom club West Ham were again frustrated as Blackpool's all-changed XI held them to a goalless draw at Upton Park.

Ian Holloway had threatened to quit if fined for making ten alterations for the midweek defeat at Aston Villa, and had recalled his main men this afternoon.

However, it was referee Kevin Friend who took centre stage when he denied the home side what looked two clear first-half penalties, with Avram Grant's men then unable to make the most of their opportunities as the Israeli again faced calls for his resignation at the final whistle.

Aston Villa 3 - 2 Blackpool

James Collins grabbed an 89th-minute winner to finally see off gutsy Blackpool and end Aston Villa's five-match winless run in the Premier League.

Tangerines boss Ian Holloway made 10 changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Everton at the weekend but they were arguably the better team before Stewart Downing put the hosts ahead with a deflected shot in the 28th minute.

Villa old boy Marlon Harewood levelled just before half-time and, after Nathan Delfouneso had netted his first of the season on the hour mark, DJ Campbell stunned Villa Park with Blackpool's second three minutes from time.

Holloway expecting Adam to leave for top four side

Charlie Adam

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway admits he is powerless to stop Charlie Adam leaving the club and moving to one of the top four if the Seasiders are not there themselves this season.

Holloway has been impressed with Adam's performances so far and, amid a row over bonuses from last season's promotion winning campaign, thinks that some of the country's top clubs will be interested in signing him up.

Blackpool 2 - 2 Everton

Blackpool's Marlon Harewood was denied a late winner as the Barclays Premier League newcomers fought out a thrilling draw with Everton today.

The Seasiders substitute put the ball in the net in the closing minutes at Bloomfield Road but was frustrated by a controversial offside flag.

Blackpool twice led an end-to-end encounter after goals from Wales pair Neal Eardley and David Vaughan but Everton hit back through Tim Cahill and former Blackpool loanee Seamus Coleman.

Blackpool 2 - 1 West Bromwich Albion

Blackpool claimed their first home Premier League win with a 2-1 victory over promoted rivals West Brom, who were reduced to nine men in the opening half hour.

Charlie Adam scored from the penalty spot after Baggies defender Pablo Ibanez was harshly sent off as the last man after just 11 minutes.

The away side's task became even harder when Gonzalo Jara also saw red after 29 minutes, following a ludicrous two-footed challenge on Luke Varney, who scored his side's second on the hour mark.

It proved the decisive strike as Yousouf Mulumbu pulled a goal back and set up a nervy final five minutes during which Paul Scharner and Steven Reid both almost nicked what would have been a barely believable point for the visitors.
