For all the hope that was earned by Cardiff, Leicester, and Doncaster; it was all EPL in the replays.
- Jon Walters scored twice in the overtime periods after Cardiff hung in during regulation with a 0-0 score. A mere two minutes into the first overtime period, Walters scored the first of his two goals. He scored an insurance goal with 5 minutes remaining in the final overtime period dashing the hopes of Cardiff for good. It turned out to be a very even matchup with both teams having chances to score in the match.
- Jonathan Walters 92' and 115'
- Roberto Mancini was insistent on winning this match versus Leicester and was able to dominate the Championship squad in the replay match. Tevez, Johnson, Vieira, and Kolarov all scored for City sending them to the next round. One cause for concern is that Tevez missed another penalty shot in the win. Gallagher and Dyer scored goals for Leicester in an attempt to hang with the big boys of the EPL.
- Tevez 15'
- Vieira 37'
- Johnson 38'
- Kolarov 90'
- Gallagher 19'
- Dyer 83'
- For about an hour Doncaster stood nose to nose with Wolverhampton after allowing the early goal. Once the hour mark hit, everything fell apart for Doncaster. Two goals were scored within 6 minutes of the hour mark pushing the lead to 3-0 and effectively putting the game out of reach. Wolves were able to put two more in the net in the 74th and 90th minutes showing an output of goals not seen by Wolverhampton in a very long time. Recently demoted backup goalie Marcus Hahnemann kept a clean sheet in finally getting some action since being usurped by Hennessey.
- Fletcher 5'
- Mujangi Bai 61'
- Doyle 66'
- Jarvis 74'
