Trouble at White Hart Lane?

Tottenham were without defenders William Gallas and Ledley King after both were injured during training on friday.  Both could only watch the Spurs lose to the lowly Hammers on a day that Tottenham did not list a single defender in its substitutes.  Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul have been out with injuries and Benoit Assou-Ekotto was also a scratch saturday.

Those injuries forced midfielder Gareth Bale to defend when the Spurs really needed his pace on the wing in the offensive half.

This sets up an interesting situation for manager Harry Redknapp.  They have a champions league matchup versus Twente and a match saturday versus Aston Villa.  Assou-Ekotto will be back for the champions league match so expect Redknapp to push strong with his top 11 in these two matches in anticipation of the international break.

Either way, until the Spurs are fully healed, they will struggle with their play versus top flight and in the case of Wigan and West Ham, poor contenders.
